5 Days Tanzanian White Water Rafting Safari
Arrival DAY 1: Dar es Salaam
Our representative will meet you at the airport and take you to a Lodge of your choice in Dar es Salaam to relax and have a delicious dinner and a serene overnight - Blue Pearl Hotel Dar es Salaam or Moevenpick Royal Palm Hotel.
DAY 2: A 7-8 Hours drive to Selous Game Reserve
You will have a rare opportunity to visit the world’s second largest game reserve with lots of wild game yet to be explored. In 1982, the United Nations listed Selous Game Reserve among the "WORLD HERITAGE SITES". An evening game drive through this reserve will expose you to lots of big game such as elephants bathing in the River Rufiji, a vast herd of buffaloes, lions, wildebeests, giraffes, waterbucks, baboons, elands and zebras. You will also encounter varieties of birdlife including goliath heron, kingfishers, hammerkops, open billed storks, fish eagles and sunbirds among others. Dine and have a serene overnight at Selous Hippo camp or Sable Mountain Lodge.
Day 3: Explore the Rufiji River - the largest river in Tanzania.
Have a nice early morning breakfast and go for boat ride to see crocodiles, schools of hippos and a variety of birds. You will retire to your lodge for late breakfast and lunch. You will then proceed with an afternoon drive to Shuguri Falls and then to the wildlife rich area around Lakes Tagala, Manze, Siwando and Nzerekera. Dine and have a peaceful overnight at your lodge.
DAYS 4: Water Rafting on the River Rufiji.
Make sure you take a nice early morning breakfast before you go with a picnic lunch to enjoy white water rafting on the river. Launching your rafts below the falls, you will be excited as you drop downstream through an area rich in bird life including herons, fish eagles, Egyptian geese, bee-eaters, storks and kingfishers. You will also most likely meet buffalos and elephants cooling their bodies or having a drink on the river banks and hippos for the right-of-way in the water.
An evening walk in the rolling Miombo Woodland with the guidance of our experts will enable you to learn some of the secrets of the bush, including interpretations of rhino scrapings or leopard tracks and even the medicinal value of trees & plants. Dine and have a tranquil overnight at your lodge.
Departure DAY 5: Rufiji back to Dar es Salaam.
Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before you embark on your return journey to Dar-es-salaam, arriving in the late evening. Dine and have a serene overnight at Selous Hippo camp or Sable Mountain Lodge.
