KIGOSI GAME RESERVE
Kigosi Game Reserve is a flood plain located between the towns of Kigoma, Tabora and Shinyanga. Its vegetation is dominated by grassy swamps to the south and Miombo woodlands to the north. It is rich in wildlife diversity and insects and is also an important breeding area for rare water birds including the Wattled crane and Shoebill stork. Wildlife present here includes the rare Sitatunga, Waterbuck, Hartebeest, Buffalo, Topi and Lions. Crocodiles and Hippos are found in the Gombe river to the south of the reserve.
